Indian Railways has made significant changes to its train charting system to enhance passenger convenience. This new rule will come into effect on Tuesday, July 8th. An official order has been issued by the Chief Commercial Manager. According to the Railways, charting will be done entirely manually under the new system to avoid any problems with quota allocation and feeding, especially for HO quotas. Discussions and reviews regarding this preparation continued until late Saturday evening at the Commercial Department office.

Changes to the charts for trains running between 5 AM and 2 PM
According to the new charting rules, the first reservation chart for all trains departing between 5 AM and 2 PM will be prepared the night before. The first chart for these trains will begin at 9 PM. This will ensure passengers know the status of their tickets for the next day’s journey promptly.
Charts for trains departing after 2 PM will be prepared eight hours in advance
The Railway Ministry has implemented a new system for second-class trains. The first reservation chart for all trains departing between 2 PM and 5 AM the following morning will now be prepared exactly eight hours before the train’s departure. Passengers will receive advance confirmation or seat availability information, enabling them to better plan their journey.
Major relief for passengers on the waiting list
This system is particularly beneficial for passengers who plan to travel with waitlisted tickets. With earlier charting, they will know whether their tickets are confirmed or not. If their tickets are not confirmed, they will have ample time to make alternative arrangements. This change is especially beneficial for those traveling on long routes and in remote areas, who often receive last-minute information about seat availability.
