SIR Update: The SIR or intensive revision phase of the voter list is currently underway in West Bengal. The enumeration process has already been completed. Then the draft voter list has been released. After that, the hearing phase began. In this phase, the Election Commission has started calling voters. They are being asked to see documents. Several questions are being asked along with it. Only then will it be possible to keep their names in the voter list, the Election Commission says. Otherwise, their names may be deleted.
How many voters are being called?
It is said that the Election Commission is going to call about 34 lakh voters for now. All these voters are unmapped. That is, their names are not in the 2002 voter list. Even the names of their parents or grandparents are missing from the voter list. And that is why the Election Commission is calling them first.
