Japan to Launch First
The Toyota Land Cruiser FJ will first go on sale in Japan, where the SUV will be available by mid-2026. In India, it will be manufactured at Toyota’s fourth manufacturing plant. The company aims to produce approximately 89,000 units annually from this plant, of which 40,000 will be for export. This will be one of Toyota’s most strategic projects, as the company aims to develop India as a global export hub.
Powerful Engine and Hybrid Options
The Land Cruiser FJ may be launched in India with several engine options. These will include a 2.7-liter petrol engine, a strong hybrid variant, and a plug-in hybrid version. The company will not offer a diesel engine. The model displayed at the Japan show was powered by a 2.7-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with a 6-speed electronically controlled torque converter (ECT) automatic transmission. This engine comes with a 4WD drivetrain and produces 163 PS of power and 246 Nm of torque.
Design and Dimensions
The Toyota FJ Cruiser has a classic and muscular design. It features a boxy stance, a large front grille, a strong bumper, a skid plate, C-shaped LED lights, blacked-out B-pillars, and conventional door handles. The tail section features C-shaped taillamps and a tailgate-mounted spare wheel, giving it a true off-road character.
The SUV measures 4,575 mm in length, 1,855 mm in width, and 1,960 mm in height. Its wheelbase is 2,580 mm, and its ground clearance is 215 mm. It will be slightly smaller than the Fortuner and Mahindra Scorpio N, but more compact and agile.
Excellent Interior and Features
The Toyota Land Cruiser FJ’s cabin is designed with a completely modern touch. It features a 5-seater layout. The dashboard features a multi-layer design and an all-black theme, giving it a premium feel. It features a 12.5-inch dual screen, a 3-spoke steering wheel, circular AC vents, a sunroof, and advanced safety features like the Toyota Safety Sense suite. This SUV offers a perfect combination of style, comfort, and technology.
