On Saturday alone, approximately 4.77 million (47.7 lakh) LPG cylinders were booked. Of these, nearly 4.7 million cylinders have already been delivered. The government further announced that a tanker carrying 46,000 metric tons of cooking gas is currently en route; this tanker is scheduled to arrive in Visakhapatnam on May 13.

According to the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, despite the prevailing geopolitical situation, the government has ensured that 100 percent supply is being maintained for domestic LPG, domestic PNG, and CNG (for transport).

Additionally, the Ministry of External Affairs is keeping a round-the-clock watch on the situation in the Gulf and West Asia regions. Indian embassies and consulates remain in constant contact with local governments and are providing assistance to citizens through dedicated helplines.

What Was Said Regarding 5-Kilogram Cylinders?

The Ministry of Petroleum informed that, since April 3, 2026, public sector oil marketing companies have organized over 10,100 awareness camps to promote 5-kilogram Free Trade LPG (FTL) cylinders. During this period, approximately 175,000 of these 5-kilogram FTL cylinders were sold. It was further stated that public sector oil marketing companies have sold 11,082 metric tonnes of Auto LPG since April 2026.
