Indian Rail: For frequent train travelers, there is promising news on the horizon. You will no longer need to maintain various applications for different services on your device. This is because Indian Railways is set to introduce its comprehensive app, SwaRail. Currently in the beta testing phase, SwaRail is also accessible on the Google Play Store.

SwaRail App

The app is designed to consolidate all railway services, enabling passengers to book reservation tickets, platform tickets, and unreserved tickets from a single interface. By bringing various railway services together, SwaRail aims to provide a more efficient experience for travelers. Developed by the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS), this super app integrates the online reservation capabilities of IRCTC’s RailConnect app with the mobile functionality of UTS.

Upon launching the app, users will see options for booking reserved, unreserved, or platform tickets directly on the home screen. In addition to ticket booking, SwaRail includes features such as live train running status, food service, PNR inquiries, coach position tracking, food ordering, and refund requests. The Rail Connect mobile app was initially launched by IRCTC a decade ago in 2014 to facilitate online reservations and has since undergone numerous enhancements to improve user experience. With the introduction of this new super app, passengers can look forward to a more user-friendly interface that consolidates various services in one location.

SwaRail will remove the necessity of having multiple applications for different services, allowing passengers to meet all their railway-related requirements through a single app. Currently, beta testers are evaluating all the app’s features to resolve any issues before its public release.
