India Post: Good news for post office account holders. Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia announced on Friday that India Post will launch a 24-hour and 48-hour guaranteed delivery service for mail and parcels from January 2026. Under this new service, mail and parcels will be assured of delivery within the stipulated time frame.

Scindia said, “We are going to launch new products, which include 24-hour speed post service, which will deliver mail within 24 hours. Similarly, there will also be 48-hour speed post service, which will ensure delivery of mail within 48 hours.” The minister said these services will be launched in January. He also announced that next-day parcel delivery will be available, allowing parcels that currently take 3-5 days to reach customers the same day.

This initiative is part of the government’s plan to transform India Post from a ‘cost center’ to a ‘profit center’ by 2029. This reform will enhance the quality of postal services and improve customer satisfaction. India Post is the country’s oldest and most reliable postal service network, serving remote rural areas and major urban centers. It also provides employment to millions of people across the country.

Given the growing demand for fast and reliable delivery services in the digital age, this new guarantee-based service from India Post will prove to be helpful for many industries including e-commerce. Previously, India Post’s traditional Speed Post and Parcel services lacked guaranteed delivery times, often causing inconvenience to customers. This new scheme is expected to largely eliminate this problem.

The Union Minister stated that the government is continuously striving to modernize and competitively improve India Post’s services, making them more useful and reliable for the general public. This initiative will bring about a major transformation in India’s postal service sector and contribute to the country’s economic development.
