Aadhaar Card Update: The Aadhaar card has become an extremely important document these days. So, if your Aadhaar card is lost or you don’t remember your Aadhaar number, there’s no need to panic. UIDAI has made the process of retrieving your Aadhaar number and enrollment ID very easy. You can do this both online and offline.

How to retrieve your Aadhaar number online?

If your mobile number is linked to your Aadhaar, you can retrieve your Aadhaar number from the comfort of your home. To do this, you need to visit the official UIDAI website and select the ‘Retrieve UID/EID’ option.

Here you will have to enter your full name, the mobile number or email ID linked to your Aadhaar, and the captcha. After this, you will receive an OTP on your mobile or email. Upon entering the OTP, your Aadhaar number or enrollment ID will be sent to you via SMS. This service is completely free and takes only a few minutes.

What to do if your mobile number is not linked?

If your mobile number is not linked to your Aadhaar, you will have to visit your nearest Aadhaar enrollment or update centre. There, you will have to provide basic information such as your name, gender, district, or PIN code. After this, your biometric verification will be done, which includes fingerprint or iris scanning. If the information is correct, you will receive a printed copy of your e-Aadhaar from the centre. A fee of Rs. 30 is charged for this service.

You can also get your Aadhaar number from the UIDAI helpline

If you don’t want to go to an Aadhaar centre, you can also get help by calling the UIDAI helpline at 1947. In the first call, you can get your enrollment ID by providing your basic information. Then, in the second call, after confirming your enrollment ID, date of birth, and PIN code through the IVRS system, your Aadhaar number will be provided to you. This service is completely free.

What to do if your Aadhaar letter is lost?

If your physical Aadhaar letter is lost, go to any Aadhaar enrollment centre and provide your Aadhaar number or the 28-digit enrollment ID. After the biometric verification, you will receive a printed copy of your e-Aadhaar from there, for which you will have to pay 30 rupees.
