What is the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana?
The Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) is a central government scheme that provides financial assistance to women who are becoming mothers for the first time. Under this scheme, women receive a total of Rs. 5,000, which is given in three installments.

In addition, if a second child is a girl, the government provides an additional assistance of Rs. 6,000. Thus, eligible women can receive a total benefit of up to Rs. 11,000. The objective of this scheme is to provide pregnant women with timely vaccinations, regular health check-ups, and safe delivery facilities, so that the health of both the mother and child is improved and the financial burden on the family is reduced.
Which women can benefit from the scheme?

Only women who are at least 19 years old can benefit from this scheme. In addition, women who are unable to work due to pregnancy or whose income has been affected are also eligible for this scheme.
Along with this, women belonging to the Scheduled Castes (SC), the Scheduled Tribes (ST), women with disabilities, BPL cardholders, beneficiaries of the Ayushman Bharat Yojana, e-Shram cardholders, and women with Kisan Samman Nidhi and MNREGA job cards can also avail the benefits of this scheme. However, women working in regular jobs in the central or state government are not eligible for this scheme.

First, visit the official website of the scheme: pmmvy.wcd.gov.in
Enter your mobile number and verify it via OTP.

Then, fill in your name, address, and other required information.
Log in and complete the application form.

Upload the necessary documents.
It is mandatory to apply within 270 days of the child’s birth.
