Ration card: The government has given a big relief to the poor and needy families. Like Aadhaar and PAN card, ration card is considered a very important document in the country. It is not only used as an identity, but through this one also gets the direct benefit of government schemes – especially free food grains.

Now as the monsoon season is coming in the country and access may be difficult due to rain in many areas, the central government has taken a big decision. The government has instructed all the state governments to give free ration for June, July and August 2025 together, so that people do not face any problem in the coming days.

Free ration distribution started in UP

The Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh has implemented these instructions rapidly and has started giving free food grains to more than 1.15 crore beneficiaries under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) in the state. But one thing is clear – those who have not yet completed the e-KYC process of ration card will not get the benefit of this.

Eligible household cardholders will get two kg of wheat and three kg of rice free per unit. At the same time, Antyodaya cardholders will be provided a total of 35 kg of ration on each card – which will include 14 kg of wheat and 21 kg of rice – simultaneously.

how you will get ration for June, July and August

The Uttar Pradesh government has also fixed the dates for ration distribution. The ration for the month of June will be distributed between May 10 and June 10. The ration for July will be available from June 10 to June 20 and the distribution for the month of August will be done from June 25 to July 6.

There are about 3.58 crore ration card holders in the state at present, out of which more than 1.29 crore are Antyodaya cardholders. These cardholders are provided free food grains in a fixed quantity every month.

How to get a new ration card

If you have not been able to apply for a ration card yet, then there is nothing to worry about. Now the online process for ration card has become very easy.

First of all you have to go to the official website of UP government (https://fcs.up.gov.in). There you will get the option to download the form. As soon as you download the form, you have to print it and fill all the information asked in it carefully.

After filling the form, you have to go to your nearest CSC center or ration office and submit it. Your information will be verified by the department. If your given information is found to be correct and you are eligible, then your ration card will be made and you will also be able to avail schemes like free grains.

Documents are required for ration card?

While getting a ration card made, you have to keep some important documents with you. This includes your Aadhar card, voter ID, proof of address (like electricity bill or water bill), mobile number, passport size photographs of family members, PAN card, income certificate, bank passbook and gas connection information.

Why is it necessary to get e-KYC

Now let’s talk about e-KYC, which has become the most important part of this entire system. Actually, through the process of e-KYC i.e. “Know Your Customer”, the government wants to ensure that those who have ration cards are really eligible or not.

This will help in eliminating fake cards and only the right people will get the benefit of government facilities. Therefore, now all ration card holders have to get it done compulsorily.

In this, information like name, date of birth of each member is matched with Aadhaar data. This confirms the identity of the beneficiary and brings transparency in ration distribution.

How to do e-KYC for ration card

If you want to do e-KYC for ration card, then first go to the PDS (Public Distribution System) website of your state. Every state has its own website.

There on the homepage you will find an option related to ration card or services, in which “e-KYC for ration card” will be written.

Now you have to enter your ration card number and Aadhaar number. Keep in mind that these numbers should be of the head of the family or the concerned member.

After this, you have to enter the same mobile number which is linked to your Aadhaar, because an OTP will come on it. As soon as you fill the OTP, your e-KYC process will be completed and you will get a confirmation message for it.
