Gold Price: Daily fluctuations are observed in gold and silver prices. While gold prices witnessed a surge on the MCX, rates remained stable in the capital’s bullion market. According to the Indian Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA), gold of 999 purity closed at ₹157,739 per tola on Monday. Meanwhile, in the international market, spot gold was seen trading at $4,535.23 per ounce, recording a marginal decline.
On the MCX, around 11:30 PM on Monday night, gold for June delivery closed at ₹159,285 per 10 grams, up approximately ₹700. During intraday trading, it had touched a high of ₹160,266. Concurrently, silver for July delivery rose by about ₹4,783 per kilogram to reach ₹276,669. During the trading session, it had peaked at ₹280,400 per kilogram.

As of 10:00 AM today—Tuesday—on the MCX, gold for June 5 delivery is holding steady at ₹159,264 per 10 grams. Meanwhile, silver for July 3 delivery remains at ₹273,841 per kilogram. Notably, compared to Monday, silver prices have declined today, falling by approximately ₹3,000.

According to GoodReturns, the price of 24-carat gold declined by ₹710 per 10 grams on Monday. Following this drop, gold settled at ₹156,220. Meanwhile, silver plummeted by ₹10,000 per kilogram to ₹2.90 lakh per kilogram.

The bank has changed the interest rates on medium and long term FDs of less than Rs 3 crore. The new rates have come into effect from today, 18 May 2026. The special thing is that FDs of 1 year to 3 years will now get higher interest than before. According to the new rates, FDs of less than 1 year and up to 2 years will now get 6.50% interest. Whereas FDs of less than 2 years and up to 3 years will get 6.60% interest and FDs of exactly 3 years will get 6.70% annual interest.
The bank has also continued the extra interest benefit for senior and super senior citizens. Senior citizens will receive an extra 0.50% interest rate, and super senior citizens an extra 0.65% interest rate on FDs between 6 months and 3 years. Senior citizens will receive an extra 0.75% interest rate, and super senior citizens an extra 0.90% interest rate on FDs longer than 3 years.
