LPG Connection E-KYC: If you haven’t done your e-KYC for your LPG connection yet, make sure to get it done by December 31st. After that date, your connection might get blocked. Oil marketing companies are constantly reminding consumers about this issue. Still, only 65% of connections in Bhopal district have completed the e-KYC process.
To tackle fraudulent connections and ensure transparency, the Ministry of Petroleum has made e-KYC mandatory for LPG connections. This initiative has been in place for about a year, but it seems like consumers aren’t too enthusiastic about it. Reports indicate that there are over 800,000 LPG connections from different companies in the district.
How can you complete e-KYC?
Consumers can simply download their LPG company’s app and finish this process from the comfort of their home. Alternatively, they can visit their nearest dealer with their Aadhaar card, LPG connection book, and mobile number. This service is completely free. LPG distributor RK Gupta mentions that there are ongoing efforts to promote e-KYC. Consumers are being kept in the loop. If you don’t complete your e-KYC by December 31st, your connection could be cut off.
This process is particularly crucial for those receiving gas connections under the Ujjwala Yojana. Biometric Aadhaar authentication, or e-KYC, is required to get the targeted subsidy of Rs 300 for the 8th and 9th refills each financial year. If you don’t finish your e-KYC, the subsidy will be halted after the 7th refill. However, if you complete it before the financial year ends, the subsidy can be reinstated.
