Challan New System: The Uttar Pradesh government is working to completely digitalise and modernise the e-challan system to strengthen road safety and reduce road accident deaths. As part of this initiative, the Traffic Police and Transport Department are jointly implementing significant improvements, including expanding the e-challan portal, analysing accident data, and connecting it with vehicle insurance.

In the new system, an AI-based platform is being developed to integrate e-challans with the Vahan and Sarathi apps. An online dashboard is also being developed to collect and verify accident-related information. This will not only facilitate the monitoring of challans but also enable immediate action against violators.

Integration Begins in 17 Districts

Following approval from the Chief Secretary in a meeting, work has begun on integrating the e-challan system in 17 districts of the state. In the first phase, the challan portals of the Traffic Police and Transport Department have been brought together on a single platform. This process will soon be implemented in the remaining districts as well.

Using Data from the Online Dashboard

The integration of all driving license-related challans has been completed through the Sarathi portal. Additionally, a smart system is being developed by linking the e-DAR, i-RAD app, and e-Challan portal. Data on road accidents and challans is now being submitted online in all districts, enabling timely corrective action.

Linking e-Challans to Vehicle Insurance

The process of linking e-Challans with vehicle insurance is also progressing as planned. There is also a proposal to increase the insurance premium for vehicle owners with five or more challans to provide immediate treatment and compensation in case of accidents. However, only IRDAI has the final authority to change premiums.

Modern Equipment for Challans

Traffic police and enforcement teams are being provided with modern electronic equipment to ensure a faster, transparent, and efficient challan process. This initiative, under the direction of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, will play a crucial role in making Uttar Pradesh a leader in road safety.
