UPI Transactions: NPCI has released data regarding Unified Payments Interface. NPCI said that UPI has crossed the figure of 20 billion transactions for the first time in its history. According to NPCI, in the month of August, the number of UPI transactions touched 20.01 billion. This is 2.8 percent more than the month of July. According to NPC, approximately 19.47 billion UPI transactions took place in the month of July, according to the National Payment Corporation of India. This is an increase of 34 percent on an annual basis.

At the same time, UPI has recorded transactions worth Rs 24.85 lakh crore in August, which is 24 percent more than last year. NPCI said that the number of average daily transactions has increased to 64.5 crore. This figure was 62.8 crores. According to NPCI, the daily average transaction in August was Rs 80177 crore, while the daily average transaction in July was Rs 80919 crore.

According to NPCI, on August 2, more than 70 crore UPI transactions took place in a single day. This jump in August has been seen despite the ban on real-money gaming platforms. In June, 18.40 billion transactions worth Rs 24.04 lakh crore were done through UPI. Next month, it has increased by 5.8 percent, reaching 19.47 billion transactions, and with this, the value of transactions has reached Rs 25.08 lakh crore.

Let us tell you that Maharashtra has been at the forefront in digital payment transactions in the country, Maharashtra has been at the forefront in July, 9.8 percent of the total UPI transactions have been done. After that, Karnataka is in second place with a 5.5 percent share, and UP is at third place with 5.3 percent. According to data from SBI Research, the share of peer-to-merchant transactions in total value transactions is expected to increase from just 13 percent in June 2020 to 29 percent in 2025.

NPCI has said that digital payments are growing rapidly across the country, which is more than the amount of cash in circulation. According to the report, the monthly average UPI transaction is Rs 24554 billion, while the monthly growth of CIC during April-July 2025 is Rs 193 billion.
