CNG Price Hike: Torrent Gas has raised the price of CNG (Compressed Natural Gas), making it more costly to drive a car. As per reports, the price of CNG in Jaipur has gone up by Rs 2.50 per kg, bringing the new rate to Rs 93.41 per kg. This change is effective from April 3, 2026. At Torrent Gas fuel stations across various regions of Rajasthan, the price of CNG has reached Rs 95.50 per kg.
Residents of Jaipur have voiced their worries regarding the increasing CNG prices, according to reports. Auto drivers have mentioned that their earnings have been significantly affected due to lower profits, compelling them to extend their working hours just to make the minimum wage.
What are the prices of Torrent Gas CNG in other states?
Uttar Pradesh: Rs 93.50 to Rs 96.25 per kg
Punjab: Rs 71.75 to Rs 94.25 per kg
Telangana: Rs 99 per kg
Gujarat: Rs 85.17 per kg
Maharashtra: Rs 94.5 per kg
Puducherry: Rs 81.5 per kg
Tamil Nadu: Rs 81.50 to Rs 94 per kg
The increase in CNG prices has sparked worries about rising travel fares. For daily commuters, even a slight fare hike can throw their monthly budget off balance.
LPG is also becoming more expensive
Following LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas), the primary factor behind the rise in CNG prices is the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. The war that began on February 28, 2026, between Iran and Israel-America has severely disrupted the global supply of crude oil and gas. The movement of commercial vessels through the crucial Strait of Hormuz has nearly come to a halt, resulting in an energy crisis. The cost of a commercial LPG cylinder in India has increased by Rs 218 as of April 1, 2026.
This type of LPG is utilized in hotels, restaurants, dhabas, and other commercial venues. This marks the fifth price hike in the last four months. The price of the 14.2 kg LPG cylinder, which is used in household kitchens, has remained unchanged in April. Its last price adjustment was on March 7, 2026, when it rose by Rs 60.
Petrol and diesel prices also increased
Recently, Nayara Energy and Shell India have increased the prices of petrol and diesel. Shell India has increased the price of petrol by the highest amount of Rs 7.41 per liter in Bengaluru, the capital of Karnataka. Diesel prices have increased the highest amount by Rs 25.01 per liter. Nayara Energy increased the price of petrol by Rs 5 per liter and diesel by Rs 3 per liter in the end of March. However, due to VAT and taxes in different states, the actual increase can be up to Rs 5.30 per liter.
Prices of crude oil have increased pressure on the country’s fuel companies. Nevertheless, the country’s state-owned oil marketing companies have not yet raised the prices of regular petrol and diesel. However, they have increased prices in some categories, including premium and industrial. These state-owned oil marketing companies include Indian Oil Corporation, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation, and Bharat Petroleum Corporation. These companies control approximately 90 percent of the country’s fuel market.
To protect consumers from the impact of rising crude oil prices, the government has reduced the special additional excise duty on petrol and diesel. This excise duty has been reduced from Rs 13 per liter to Rs 3 per liter on petrol and from ₹10 per liter to zero on diesel.
