E-Passport: Passports are no longer just books with covers and pages; they now incorporate modern technology. India has launched an electronic chip-enabled e-passport, which stores important identity information in a secure digital chip. If you are planning to get a new passport or renew your old one, this information about the e-passport is essential for you.

What is an E-Passport?

An e-passport looks exactly like a regular Indian passport, but it has a special electronic chip embedded in the back cover. This chip securely stores the passport holder’s photo, fingerprints, facial recognition data, and other necessary information in an encrypted form. This technology makes it extremely difficult to counterfeit or tamper with the passport. The e-passport is designed according to international standards to avoid any problems during international travel.
