Ration Card Update: The number of ration card holders in Bihar is currently up to 8.71 crores. Now, given this, there is a plan to add the names of about 26 lakh new beneficiaries to the ration card. In this regard, a campaign to make new ration cards has been started by the Food and Consumer Protection Department across the state.

Under this campaign, a target of making a total of 11.37 lakh ration cards has been set. In this, 9.53 lakh ration cards are set for Priority Family (PHH) and 1.84 lakh Antyodaya ration cards. So far, about 8.40 lakh ration cards have been approved, 71 percent of the total applications. However, about 3.44 lakh applications are pending.

Saharsa – 87 percent
Purnia – 87 percent
Jamui – 86 percent
Supaul – 86 percent
Araria – 85 percent
The department has made it mandatory to have a group photo of the entire family and a photo of the applicant’s signature to prevent fraud in the process of making ration cards. This decision will bring transparency and verification to the information of the beneficiaries.

Instructions of the department

Recently, the Principal Secretary of the department held a meeting, in which he instructed that the task should be completed at all costs. All pending applications should be settled soon, and ration cards will be issued to the beneficiaries on time across the state.
