Bank Holiday October: October 2025 is set to be a festive month, with long bank holidays. Banks will be closed for a total of 21 days this month in various states. This includes festivals, Sundays, and regular holidays on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month. Major festivals like Dussehra, Durga Puja, Diwali, Chhath Puja, Lakshmi Puja, and Bhai Dooj will be celebrated in October. If you’re planning to visit a bank in October, check the holiday list first.
Holidays of different states
1. Banks will remain closed on October 1 in several states like West Bengal, Karnataka, Assam, Bihar, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh due to Dussehra, Ayudha Puja and Durga Puja.
2. Banks across India will be closed on Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti on October 2. This is a national holiday, so branches in all states and union territories will be closed on this day.
3. There will be a holiday in Sikkim on 3rd and 4th October due to Durga Puja.
4. Banks will remain closed on October 6 in Tripura and West Bengal on the occasion of Lakshmi Puja.
5. On October 7, there will be a holiday on Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti and Kumar Purnima in some states including Karnataka, Odisha and Himachal Pradesh.
6. Banks will remain closed on Karva Chauth in Himachal Pradesh on October 10.
7. There will be a holiday on Kati Bihu in Assam on 18th October.

9. The biggest festival of October is Diwali, due to which there will be holidays for many days.
10. Banks will remain closed in more than 20 states on October 20 due to Diwali, Narak Chaturdashi and Kali Puja.
11. On October 21, there will be a holiday in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Odisha for Diwali Amavasya, Lakshmi Puja and Govardhan Puja.
12. On October 22, there will be a holiday on Diwali, New Year and Balipadyami in many states including Gujarat, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh.
13. Banking services will be affected in several states including Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal on October 23 on account of Bhai Dooj, Chitragupta Puja and other festivals.
Chhath Puja and other holidays
14. There will be a holiday on Chhath Puja (evening Arghya) on 27th October in West Bengal, Bihar and Jharkhand.
15. Banks will remain closed on October 28 on account of Chhath Puja (morning Arghya) in Bihar and Jharkhand.
