Ayushman Card: The government has a bunch of schemes aimed at helping everyday folks, and one of the biggest and most effective is the Ayushman Bharat Yojana, which focuses on health security. Through this scheme, qualifying families can get free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh each year, and they can access this treatment without any cash at government and many private hospitals throughout the country.
To join the scheme, an Ayushman card is created, and the whole process—from checking if you’re eligible to downloading the card—has become super easy. Once the annual limit is reached, the new limit resets automatically in the next financial year, meaning that every April 1st, Rs 5 lakh is added back to the card.
What is Ayushman Card?
The Ayushman Card is a health card provided under the central government’s Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY), which offers cashless treatment up to Rs 5 lakh for low-income families. With this card, beneficiaries can get admitted to empanelled hospitals nationwide without any payment, undergo surgeries, and receive treatment for serious illnesses, all covered by the government. There’s no hassle with billing, paperwork, or payments; you just need to show your Ayushman Card. The aim is to make sure no family has to borrow money for treatment and to give everyone access to quality healthcare without financial stress.
How is Ayushman card made?
You can apply for an Ayushman card either online or offline. For online applications, just head to the scheme’s official website or use the Ayushman Bharat app. After filling in your details and verifying your OTP, your card will be generated, and you can save it on your phone. If you prefer to apply offline, visit the nearest CHC center, where officials will check your eligibility. If you’re eligible, they’ll verify your documents, and after a few steps, your Ayushman card will be ready for download.
You will get the benefit of free treatment worth Rs 5 lakh
After obtaining an Ayushman card, beneficiaries can receive free treatment at registered hospitals across the country. Whether it’s an operation, a serious illness, or a long-term treatment, the government covers all costs. Keep in mind that this limit is Rs 5 lakh per year. If the entire Rs 5 lakh is spent on a single treatment, the patient cannot avail of the benefits for the entire year. To find a hospital, you can enter your city or district name on the official portal to view all listed hospitals.
