Anganwadi Worker Salary Update: If a woman in your family is employed as an Anganwadi worker or assistant, the government has delivered a significant boon to them. In a historic decision, the government has increased their honorarium. This means they will now receive a higher monthly salary—a development that has brought visible joy and enthusiasm to the faces of the workers and assistants.
The benefit of this honorarium hike will be available exclusively to employees within the state of Goa. This decision was taken specifically by the Government of Goa. According to an order issued by the Directorate of Women and Child Development, the revised honorarium structure will come into effect on April 1, 2026. This initiative is being hailed as a meaningful step toward economically empowering the women personnel working at the grassroots level and honouring their invaluable contributions.
Significant Salary Increase
The new structure provides a substantial financial boost compared to the previous 2021 arrangement.
- Previous Salary: Anganwadi workers were receiving ₹4,500 per month (₹2,700 from the Centre and ₹1,800 from the State).
- New Starting Salary: The honorarium has been raised to a minimum of ₹15,000.
- Maximum Potential: Depending on years of experience and length of service, the monthly pay can now go up to ₹23,000.
2. Implementation & Eligibility
- Effective Date: The revised salary structure comes into effect from April 1, 2026.
- Regional Scope: This specific hike is exclusive to workers and assistants employed within the State of Goa.
- Authority: The order was issued by the Directorate of Women and Child Development with the approval of the Finance Department and the Governor.
A Substantial Hike in Honorarium

The CM Delivers on His Promise
This decision has been taken in fulfilment of the promise made by Chief Minister DDrPramod Sawant during the Goa Budget Session. By implementing its assurance in a time-bound manner, the State Government has clearly demonstrated its seriousness and commitment toward the welfare of its grassroots-level workforce—specifically the Anganwadi workers, who perform critical duties related to child nutrition, early childhood education, and women’s health.
What Will the New Salary Be?
Previously, Anganwadi workers in Goa received a monthly honorarium of ₹4,500. This amount comprised a contribution of ₹2,700 from the Central Government and ₹1,800 from the State Government. Now, the State Government will contribute an additional amount of up to ₹10,500.
Consequently, their total starting honorarium will rise to ₹15,000. Furthermore, based on experience and length of service, this amount can rise to as much as ₹23,000 per month. This increase will not only strengthen their financial standing.
