Aadhaar Card New Rules: If you live in Uttar Pradesh, then this news is very important for you. Today, the Yogi government has taken a big decision regarding Aadhaar card, which is going to affect every resident of UP. The Uttar Pradesh government has banned the inclusion of Aadhaar card as a proof of date of birth. The government has clarified that Aadhaar card will not be accepted as proof of date of birth. In this regard, the government has issued instructions to all departments, saying that Aadhaar card should not be considered a valid document of date of birth for any government process, service or certification.

The Yogi government took this decision following a UIDAI report that stated that the date of birth recorded in Aadhaar is often “approximate” and cannot be considered official proof. What are the options now? The new rules prioritize birth certificates issued by the Municipal Corporation, Nagar Panchayat, Gram Panchayat, or Registrar of Births and Deaths, as these are based directly on the records maintained at the time of birth.

If someone doesn’t have this certificate, they will need to go to their local body or registrar’s office to obtain late registration, where supporting documents such as a hospital discharge slip, vaccination card, ration card, and parental affidavit may be requested. Delays may also result in fines or additional fees, so it’s important to start the process early rather than procrastinate.

For those educated in cities or towns, high school or intermediate mark sheets, school leaving certificates, and certificates from recognized boards are the most practical options, as the date of birth on these typically matches the school’s admission records. Many government departments also accept the date of birth on passports, driving licenses, or service records, provided they are based on a pre-approved birth proof. Therefore, those with valid passports may find the hassle of obtaining additional documents somewhat less challenging.
