Parents Do This Things for Your 5 and 15 Years Old Children’s Aadhaar Cards, Otherwise it Will Useless
The Aadhaar card is becoming increasingly important as an identity document in India. It is used for various purposes, from availing the benefits of government schemes to banking, school admissions, and more. For children, the Aadhaar card is not only a means of identification but also a foundation for many future services. Therefore, it is considered extremely important to update their children’s Aadhaar cards from time to time.
According to UIDAI, a large number of parents across the country have completed the necessary biometric updates on their children’s Aadhaar cards, but there are still many children whose updates are pending. Failure to update on time can affect the validity of the Aadhaar card and lead to various problems in the future.
Why is it important to update children’s Aadhaar?
Initially, children’s Aadhaar cards only contain a photo and basic information. As children grow older, their biometric data changes. Therefore, updating their photo, fingerprint, and iris scans at the appropriate age is essential. Having accurate and updated information prevents any disruption in government schemes, scholarships, banking services, and educational benefits.
At what age is the update required?
The process of updating children’s Aadhaar biometrics is completed in two stages. The first update is done when the child turns 5 years old. The second and final update is done at the age of 15. The update made at the age of 15 is considered permanent, and there is no need for repeated updates after that under normal circumstances.
What happens if the update is not done?
If the biometric update is not done on time, outdated or incomplete information may remain in the child’s Aadhaar. This can cause problems in availing the benefits of government schemes. In many cases, identity verification may be difficult. School admissions, opening bank accounts, and obtaining other government documents in the future may also be problematic.
What is the Aadhaar update process?
To update children’s Aadhaar, parents must visit the nearest Aadhaar Seva Kendra. It’s mandatory to bring the child’s birth certificate, school ID, or other valid documents, and a parent’s ID. After completing the form at the center, the child’s new photo and biometric information are entered. Upon completion, a receipt is issued to track the updated status.
No fee is being charged for biometric updates for children between the ages of 5 and 15 during a special period set by the government. This facility will be available from October 1, 2025, to September 30, 2026, to ensure that more parents can update their children’s biometrics on time.
