Big news for Ration Card holder’s. In the district, 909,285 ration card holders still haven’t completed their e-KYC. If they don’t get it done by March 31, their names will be taken off the ration card list, meaning they won’t receive their grain share anymore. The Food and Consumer Protection Department has put out a notice about this.
They’ve mentioned that even after extending the deadline multiple times, many consumers haven’t completed their Aadhaar seeding or e-KYC. This is the final chance, and there won’t be any more extensions. If any member listed on a ration card hasn’t completed their Aadhaar seeding by March 31, their name will be removed starting April 1, 2025.
The district has a total of 3,443,031 consumers across all 18 blocks. According to the National Food Security Act, the Ministry of Food and Public Distribution requires e-KYC for all ration card holders. Initially, e-KYC was available through POS machines at public distribution shops, but many faced issues. To help, the department introduced facial e-KYC, yet millions still haven’t completed the process.
The Aadhaar seeding must be finished by March 31. DM Rajiv Roshan has urged all ration card holders to ensure every member’s Aadhaar seeding is done on time. This can be done for free at any JVP vendor’s shop using the e-POS machine. The facial e-KYC option is also available now, and beneficiaries can complete e-KYC from their mobile devices using the Mera e-KYC and AadhaarFaced apps.
You can easily do e-KYC from home using the app. Vinodanand Jha, president of the Fair Price Dealer Association, mentioned that the department has set the March 31 deadline for consumers to complete their e-KYC. If they don’t, their names will be removed. He added that consumers can now handle this from home using the app. KYC can be completed through Aadhaar seeding or e-KYC at any public distribution center.
