The government had announced this commission in January 2025, but to date, neither the chairman has been appointed, nor the members have been elected, nor the rules have been finalized. In such a situation, its implementation by January 2026 seems very difficult.

Comparison with the 7th Pay Commission

If we look at the process of the 7th Pay Commission, it took three years. A long process was completed before the recommendations of the report were implemented. On this basis, experts believe that if the process of the 8th Pay Commission also moves forward at the same pace, then the employees will get the actual benefit only by 2028. However, its effect will be considered from January 1, 2026, and even if it is implemented later, the calculation will be done from the same date.
Employees’ concern increased
The concern of more than 1 crore central employees and pensioners is increasing continuously. Employee organizations have demanded clarity from the government and have also written several letters. Meanwhile, the Finance Ministry says that suggestions are being taken from the states, ministries, and employee organizations, and a notification will be issued soon.
How much will the salary increase

The question in the minds of the employees is whether their salary will be doubled. But experts believe that this is not possible. The increase will be decided on the basis of the fitment factor, which can be estimated to be between 1.83 to 2.86. This means that an increase of 13 percent to 34 percent in salary is possible.

There may be a delay in the future
At present, no concrete information has come from the government. Employee organizations hope that the government can take some positive steps before Diwali. But if there is a delay, then this wait may be long.
