Every employees who are working for the central government of India has been waiting for the salary increase under the 8th Pay Commission. The government has green signaled to form the panel to take the discussion to a new level. But as of now, employees may have to wait more. Along with the regular employees, Agniveers will also get the benefits, but how much salary hike they can get?
Some significant changes are being made regarding the recruitment of Agniveers under the Agnipath scheme. As a result, some people are questioning whether the salaries of Agniveers will increase after the 8th Pay Commission. The first batch of Agniveers will retire in June 2026, a possibility. Therefore, preparations are underway to make changes to this scheme. The implementation of the 8th Pay Commission may result in an increase in the salaries of Agniveers. However, no official notice has been issued regarding this.
However, its exact calculation still depends on the fitment factor. The 8th Pay Commission is generally implemented every 10 years. Therefore, its recommendations are expected to be implemented from January 1, 2026. Pay Commissions use a ‘fitment factor’ to increase salaries. In the 7th Pay Commission, this factor was 2.57. According to media reports, the fitment factor in the 8th Pay Commission is likely to be between 2.86 and 3.00. This salary is equivalent to Rs 21,700 for a constable/level-3.
Agniveera will recieve the benefits of 8th Pay Commission
The salaries of Agniveers are linked to the pay scale of central government employees, so they will also receive the benefits of the 8th Pay Commission. Salary increases will occur primarily in two ways. If the minimum basic salary of Rs 18,000 under the 8th Pay Commission is increased to Rs 40,000 to Rs 50,000, the starting package of Agniveers will also increase proportionately.
Then how much salary can increase
If we can use an estimated fitment factor of 2.86.
Current Basic Pay: 21,700 (as per 7th CPC Level-3)
New Basic Pay (Estimated): 21,700 Fitment 2.86 62,000
