What messages are circulating on social media?
The Press Information Bureau (PIB) has said that there are many such messages circulating on social media, which say that the Reserve Bank of India is going to withdraw Rs 500 notes in March 2026. And this claim is completely baseless. RBI has not made any such claim.
Therefore, the PIB has appealed to the common people, saying, ‘Before believing such news, verify it once. Do not spread fake news. Rs 500 notes are still in the market. This money is legal.’

This is not the first rumour
