There are some names in the Indian bike market that do not make much noise, but are recognized for their quality and balance. Suzuki Motorcycle India’s Gixxer lineup is also one of the same. Suzuki Gixxer and Gixxer SF bikes coming in the 150cc to 250cc segment have been present for a long time, but now they are starting to feel a bit old over time. Realizing the same shortage, Suzuki is now working on the next generation of these bikes, which are expected to be launched by the end of 2026. So let’s know its details.

Suzuki Gixxer Lineup

If viewed honestly, the Suzuki Gixxer 150, Gixxer 250, Gixxer SF 150 and Gixxer SF 250 have always been balanced packages. No more aggressive, no more simple just the right thing in the right place.

All these bikes have been selling in India since 2016 in almost identical avatars. In such a long time where the rest of the companies gave major updates in design and technology, the Gixxer range was slightly left behind. The result was that sales gradually weakened.

Next-Gen Suzuki Gixxer

According to reports, Suzuki is working extensively on the next generation Gixxer bikes. Inwardly they are given different codenames. The 150cc models are being called XF181 and XF191, while the 250cc bikes are being developed under the XF1C1 and XF1D1 codenames.

It clearly indicates that Suzuki wants to bring back Gixxer with a completely new platform and new thinking, not just the facelift.

Design

Talking about design, the next generation Suzuki Gixxer bikes can be largely inspired by the company’s large bikes. Street Naked Gixxer can get design elements from Suzuki GSX-8S, while Supersport Gixxer SF can be given a sharp and aggressive look like the Suzuki GSX-8R.

If this happens, Gixxer may give the same feel as β€œsmall GSX” for the first time, just as Yamaha has identified R15 and MT-15 as its larger bikes.

Features

The next generation is the most expected features and hardware from Gixxer bikes. Reports indicate that Suzuki no longer wants any compromise.

USD front forks can be given in the entire lineup, which will improve both ride and stability. The 150cc bikes may also have a 6-speed gearbox standard. TFT instrument clusters, premium switchgear and better electronics can also be seen.

Engine

Talking about ENGINE, Suzuki can maintain the existing engine base at the moment, but necessary improvements can be made. The 150cc Gixxer currently gets an air-cooled SOHC 2-valve engine, while the 250cc version has an oil-cooled SOHC 4-valve setup.

In the next generation, Suzuki can also offer 150cc bikes with 4-valve head and oil-cooling technology. This will improve performance, refinement and long-term reliability all three.

Price

Currently the Suzuki Gixxer 150 price in India starts at β‚Ή1.26 lakh, Gixxer SF from 150 β‚Ή1.35 lakh, Gixxer goes from 250 β‚Ή1.82 lakh and Gixxer SF 250 β‚Ή1.90

Prices will also increase as features and technology increase in the next generation, it is almost certain. But the biggest challenge for Suzuki would be to put β€” these bikes in the right place in terms of price, so that they can compete with companies like Yamaha, KTM and Bajaj.
