Petrol-Diesel Prices: Due to rising global crude oil costs, petrol and diesel prices in India have skyrocketed. These soaring prices have severely disrupted the household budgets of the common man, prompting many to switch from private vehicles to public transport.
The move is driven by a need to cut expenses amidst limited earnings. While there was no change in petrol and diesel prices on June 10, rates have increased by approximately ₹7 to ₹8 per litre since May 15. You can check the city-wise rates for petrol and diesel for June 10 (Wednesday) to clear up any confusion.

Price Hike After May 2022
Fuel prices in India are currently at their highest levels since May 2022. Before this, prices had remained largely stable for over two years, except for a ₹2 per litre reduction in March 2024.
This recent hike marks the fourth such increase in less than two weeks. The adjustment was made to pass on the impact of a sharp surge in global crude oil prices—driven by the conflict in West Asia—to consumers, following a delay in reflecting these market changes in retail prices.
