Hyundai Exter Facelift 2026 – Hyundai Exter made a distinct identity in the micro SUV segment as soon as it was launched. Now, Hyundai has been preparing to introduce it to the new avatar even before it is almost three years old. The new Hyundai Exter Facelift is first seen during testing on Indian roads. This update is coming at a time when the combat in the segment has intensified, especially after the recent I Tata Punch Facelift. The question is simply whether this new form of Exter will be able to attract people again.
Launch
Hyundai launched Exter in the Indian market in July 2023 and now preparations for its mid-cycle facelift are on the thrust. It is clear from recent spy shots that this micro SUV has started testing on public roads. The new Exter is believed to be launched in the second quarter of this year. The new Exter will be directly contested by facelifted Tata Punch.
Exterior Design
Hyundai usually makes major design changes to its mid-life updates, but in the case of Exter Facelift the company seems to be a bit restrained. Spy shots revealed suggest that its overall design will be very similar to the current model.

The same split headlamp setup is seen in the test mule, in which the special H-signature of the DRLs is retained. The design of the taillamps at the rear is also the same as before, which mirrors the H-patterns of the front DRLs.
Interior
Talking about the interior, according to reports, the cabin in the new Hyundai Exter Facelift can be fully updated. It will see a new dashboard layout, new steering wheel and more modern design than before.

The largest highlight can be a 9.9-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.9-inch large touchscreen infotainment system. Both of these displays are believed to work on Google’s Android Automotive OS (AAOS), making the user experience much better. Easy navigation, smooth interface and improved connectivity can take it further into the segment in terms of technology.
Engine
Hyundai does not look in the mood to make any major changes on the mechanical front. The new Exter is expected to offer the same 1.2-liter four-cylinder naturally aspirated engine, which will be available in both petrol and CNG options.
In the petrol version, this engine gives power of 82 hp and torque of 113.8 Nm, while the output in CNG version will be 68 hp and 95.2 Nm. The 5-speed manual as a transmission will continue as before, but it is expected that Hyundai can offer a 5-speed AMT option in the CNG variant as well.

Price
New Hyundai Exter is expected to start at around ₹5.8 lakh (ex-showroom). In this price range, it will compete directly with not only the Tata Punch Facelift but also the Maruti Ignis. Improved technology and Hyundai’s trusted brand image could make it a strong contender once again.
