Maruti’s new SUV
This new SUV has been internally codenamed ‘Y17’ and will be positioned above the Brezza but below the Grand Vitara in the Maruti lineup. Maruti has deliberately developed this model to fill this gap, as this space between the Brezza and the Grand Vitara was causing the company to lose a lot of customers. According to experts, it could be priced between Rs 10-16 lakh, which will position it as a direct competitor to the Creta.

Engine and Performance
Maruti is going to use a 1.5 liter K15 petrol engine in this new SUV, which produces 100 hp power and 136 Nm torque. The company will also offer a CNG option with this engine, whose power will be limited to 88 hp. However, according to some reports, Maruti may retune this engine slightly so that it can handle the heavy SUV better.
This model will come with 5-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission options. As per Maruti’s marketing strategy, this will be the first mid-size SUV to get a CNG option, which will attract fuel efficiency conscious Indian customers.
Features and Technology
Maruti is not making any compromise in terms of features this time. In this new SUV, you will get premium features like ventilated front seats, 360-degree camera, 9-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, panoramic sunroof, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless phone charger and full digital instrument cluster.

In safety, it can also get some features of 6 airbags, ESC (Electronic Stability Control), Hill Hold Assist and ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System). This time Maruti has paid special attention to the interior quality, in which soft-touch materials and premium finish have been used.
Competition
This new SUV will directly compete with popular cars like Hyundai Creta (15.50 – 23.30 lakh), Kia Seltos (11 – 20 lakh) and Tata Harrier (15 – 24.50 lakh). Maruti’s strong service network and affordable running cost can make this SUV an attractive option for Indian customers.
