Maruti eVitara BaaS Strategy – A Big Break in India’s EV Race with 543km Range and 5-Star Safety

Maruti eVitara: Every brand in the world of electric vehicles is trying to make its mark, but when giants like Maruti Suzuki make the move, the stir automatically increases. Recently the company has revealed production version of its first electric SUV Maruti eVitara, and with this a new chapter in India’s EV story seems to be beginning. Launch is scheduled in early 2026, but already this SUV has made a strong grip in terms of safety, power, design and charging ecosystem.

Launch

Maruti Suzuki has officially displayed eVitara production-ready version in India. Its production is going on in Gujarat plant and from there will also be export in big markets like UK, Europe and Japan. The company has clearly stated that the launch of eVitara will be in early 2026, and is scheduled to be their first electric SUV.

This reveal was not limited to just showing the SUV. Maruti has also showcase its Electric Mobility ecosystem on a large scale, making it clear that it is preparing to dominate the EV market like an ICE market.

Battery

Maruti Suzuki brings BaaS (Battery-as-a-Service) model to India for the first time. This will also be given subscription plan, which can reduce the cost of customers significantly. Assured buyback option has also been given to trust buyers. It increases both flexibility and affordability for model electric buyers.

Considering the charging network, Maruti has also revealed his grand EV strategy. The company will install 2000+ fast chargers on sales and service points of 1,100 cities in the coming years, and has targeted 1,00,000+ public charging points by 2030. His planning to bring a charger every 5–10 km proves to be a big challenge for the rest of the brands.

Safety

Maruti is not compromise at all on safety with her eVitara. Bharat NCAP has given this SUV 5-Star rating in official crash test, also in both Adult and Child protection categories. This is Maruti’s first electric SUV, and his aggressive approach buyers will trust and strengthen safety.

The safety setup of the SUV includes HEARTECT-e platform, high-tensile steel structure, 7 airbags (standard in all variants), Level-2 ADAS, TPMS, 360-degree camera, electronic parking brake with auto hold and all-wheel Nitin Gadkari has also appreciated this achievement of Maruti.

Exterior

Maruti has given it seven monotone shades and four dual-tone color options. LED projector headlights and next three-point DRL signature further enhance its premium look. 18-inch alloy wheels give it a muscular stance.

Exterior features like smart grille with adaptive shutter, powered ORVMs, underbody cover, charging port on front-left fender and roof-end spoiler establish it as a modern electric SUV.

Interior

The interiors of the eVitara showcase Maruti’s most premium cabin philosophy ever. The European-inspired dashboard, floating twin-deck centre console and ambient lighting take this SUV closer to the luxury category.

Fixed glass roof, two-spoke steering wheel, Infinity by Harman speakers, 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen, 10.25-inch TFT instrument cluster, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, ventilated front seats, 10-way powered driver seat, 40:20:40 split rear seats, sliding rear seats, wireless charging pad, PM 2.5 filter and smartwatch-connected advanced telematics.

Powertrain

Maruti eVitara is giving two Lithium-ion battery options, 49 kWh (lower trims) and 61 kWh (higher trims). Smaller battery gets 144 PS power and 193 Nm torque, while larger battery gets 174 PS power and 193 Nm torque.

The claimed range of eVitara with 61 kWh battery pack is 543 km per charge, making it an extremely strong contender in segment. AWD option will not be available at the moment, but Maruti can bring dual-motor variant to the future.
