Do you remember the top-selling car of August? Yes, we’re talking about the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. It was a sensation in the market until last month, but by September, its momentum seemed to slow down. Let’s find the answer to this question today and take a detailed look at the Ertiga’s September 2025 sales report.

September 2025 Performance
Significantly, the picture is quite shocking. Only 12,115 units of the Maruti Ertiga were sold in September 2025. This figure represents a massive decline of 31 percent compared to September last year. As a reminder, this number was 17,441 units in September 2024. Not only is the decline on a year-over-year basis, but even on a month-over-month basis, the decline is no less shocking. In August 2025, the Ertiga had performed exceptionally well, selling 18,445 units. This means that its sales have declined by approximately 6,330 units in just one month.

One-month fluctuation or larger trend
To answer this question, we should look back at some other figures from this year. In April of this year, 15,780 units of the Ertiga were sold. In May, this figure increased to 16,140 units. In June, sales declined slightly, reaching 14,151 units. In July, sales improved, with 16,604 units sold. This data suggests that Ertiga sales have fluctuated, but the 31% decline recorded in September certainly suggests otherwise. It’s possible that new offers and discounts from competing brands during the festival season may have diverted customers from the Ertiga.
Price
Its starting price starts at ₹8.80 lakh, with the top-end variant priced at ₹12.94 lakh. This MPV is available in both petrol and CNG fuel options. It offers nine trim levels: LXi, VXi, ZXi, and ZXi Plus.
Features
Regardless of sales, the Ertiga remains a strong choice in terms of features and reliability its powerhouse is its 1462cc engine. The petrol variant produces 101.64 bhp and 139 Nm of torque, while the CNG variant produces 86.63 bhp and 121.5 Nm of torque. It’s available with both manual and automatic transmission options. With a 3-star safety rating, this car has consistently been a customer favorite for its space, comfort, and mileage.

This decline may be temporary, and Maruti Suzuki may launch a strong comeback in the coming months with new offers or updates. While it’s difficult to say whether the Ertiga will be able to return to the top 5, its contribution to the Indian MPV segment will always be remembered.
