Design

Both SUVs come in boxy design, giving them a classic off-roader look. But if you talk size, Mahindra Thar Roxx is a very large SUV. It has a length of 4,428mm, a width of 1,870mm and a height of 1,923mm. At the same time, Maruti Jimny is 3,985mm long, 1,645mm wide and 1,720mm high.

The same, the wheelbase of Thar Roxx is 2,850mm, while that of Jimny is just 2,590mm. Similarly, ground clearance is also higher than Thar Roxx 226mm, which is better than Jimny’s 210mm.

Every angle of Thar Roxx seems muscular in terms of design, and the LED light package gives it a more premium touch. On the other hand, Jimny still comes with halogen headlamps, which seem a bit dated.

Interior

Talking about the cabin, Thar Roxx has a dual-tone interior, which gives it a modern and premium feel. While Jimny comes with a monotone interior in its base variants.

Thar Roxx has a seating area of 5 people, while Jimny is just a 4-seater. Roxx is also ahead in boot space. Its boot is 447 liters, more than double that of Jimny’s 208 liters. Although Jimny has a great feature rear camera, which is not found in the base variants of Thar Roxx.

Features

Thar Roxx comes with some amazing features in its base variants such as push-button start, rear AC vents, and the larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

At the same time, Jimny may have a smaller screen (7-inch), but it gets GPS navigation and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support which makes it quite user-friendly.

Jimny also offers electrically adjustable ORVMs and front seatback pockets, which are not in Thar Roxx. Both have a 4-speaker audio system and manual steering adjustment, but telescopic steering has both missing.

Engine

Now comes the most important thing engine and off-road capability. The Thar Roxx MX1 variant features a 2.0L Turbo Petrol engine, which generates 160bhp and 330Nm of torque. It is connected to a 6-speed manual gearbox.

At the same time, the Jimny Zeta Pro has a 1.5L NA Petrol engine, which gives 103bhp and 134Nm of torque, and gets a 5-speed manual gearbox. Jimny has proven his off-roading ability in many tests, even in CarWale’s off-road slalom run it was extremely close to the Mercedes G-Wagon!

Thar Roxx may be more powerful, but it comes with a 2WD (rear-wheel drive) configuration in the base variants. At the same time, Jimny’s base variant is equipped with full-time 4WD system i.e. Jimmy is more reliable for real enthusiasts of off-roading.
