Kia EV5 vs MG ZS EV : India’s electric SUV segment can be very exciting with the recent launches and few updates. The two top contenders for 2025 are – the Kia EV5 and the MG ZS EV. While the ZS EV is already popular among the mid-size electric SUVs, the first EV5 by Kia comes out soon with advanced features as it is a new global model, combined with futuristic design. Let’s stack these two against each other and see how they measure.
The EV5 comes with a bold, boxy, and very modern design inspired by the larger sibling EV9. Futuristic cut LED lighting, flat nosing, and SUV grandeur comes with the package. In comparison, the MG ZS EV has that more AKV look, with smooth curves and friendly designs made with the family buyers in mind. While the EV5 has a premium, tech-driven, and high styled theme, the “simple,” practical styling makes the ZS EV a bit different.

The Kia EV5 would be coming out with different battery packs having a range of about 500 to 600 km on a single charge and depending on the variant. It also promises to be compatible with ultra fast charging so that people can stay worry-free on long drives without having to stop often. The MG ZS EV offers a range of about 460 km, which is pretty good, but not quite as much as the EV5 promises to deliver in comparison. The EV5 is also expected to deliver stronger performance with multiple motors, while the ZS EV continues as an efficient, but capable city-friendly SUV.

Kia has a reputation for cramming premium equipment into their vehicles, and this is not different in the case of EV5. Look out for a large twin-screen setup, ADAS – Advanced Driver Assistance Systems – connected-cars tech, wireless charging, and capacious futuristic cabin interiors. The MG ZS EV also comes equipped with several of the contemporary features-a 10.1-inch touchscreen, 360 cameras, a panoramic sunroof, and connected car functionalities- but the new-age features from Kia will give the EV5 an advantage as far as tech is concerned.

Both SUVs are very family-oriented with spacious cabins and comfortable sitting arrangements. However, EV5 is a little more significant in terms of overall size, which means that it has a bigger cabin and a bigger boot. ZS EV, well, it’s just compact in measure, but quite practical and easy to drive in city conditions.

Thus, the Kia EV5 is definitely meant for those future-ready consumers who want a feature-loaded electric SUV with high range capabilities. Meanwhile, for those looking for a tried-and-tested dependable, practical electric SUV at a lower price point, the MG ZS EV is still an excellent option. In short, EV5 seems more premium, but ZS EV remains a great value-for-money proposition.
