Hyundai Ioniq 5 vs Skoda Enyaq – Today, international players are entering the Indian premium EV market. The Skoda Enyaq should also be quite competitive but within smaller limitations compared to the Ioniq 5 in range, with configurations being offered with a 52 kWh, 58 kWh, or 77 kWh battery pack. The expected price of Enyaq is Rs 50 lakh to Rs 80 lakh.

The “retro-futuristic” squash-box design of the Ioniq 5 contrasts with the Enyaq’s rather proper SUV-like proportions. The very long wheelbase of 3000 mm (versus 2766 mm on Enyaq) has translated into quite a spacious cabin for the Ioniq 5, including segments such as the slideable centre console. Plenty of boot space at 585 litres for Enyaqs (just a bit more than the Ioniq 5’s 584 litres), and both cabins are very premium; like both SUVs, they are laden with luxury goodies, including ADAS, a massive panoramic sunroof, and premium upholstery.

Hyundai has a competitive advantage over Skoda in terms of technology and usability, with a super travel of 631 km, instantaneous ultra-fast charging capabilities courtesy of the revolutionary feature 800V, and a spacious cabin. It holds the high ground on the E-GMP platform. Meanwhile, buyers wanting traditional SUV styling will prefer the Skoda Enyaq, along with the premium build quality loyalty that comes with it. However, as a complete premium electric package, it is opined that in India, the Ioniq 5 is the better offering.
