Honda had canceled its plans to launch the HR-V in 2019 at the last minute because the price and cost of the car were not balanced. But this time, the company has a major advantage – the new GST structure. After the GST reforms implemented in September, sub-4 meter cars attract approximately 13% less tax. This is why many auto companies are now re-evaluating their plans in this segment. Honda currently only has the Amaze car in this segment. Now, with the return of the WR-V, the company could gain a significant advantage.
Competition and Challenges
The new Honda WR-V will face established giants in this segment. Cars like the Brezza, Venue, Nexon, and Sonet have already established a strong foothold in the market. If Honda wants to succeed in this segment again, it will have to focus more on performance, comfort, connectivity, and safety this time.
