Vastu Tips: In Hinduism, it is believed that a lamp must be lit during worship. It is also said that worship of the deity is incomplete without it. Vastu Shastra outlines specific rules for prayer that are considered good to follow.

Lighting a lamp during worship is considered an essential ritual. Doing so ensures the full benefits of the puja and increases the home’s positivity. Today, we will explain the proper way to light a lamp before God.

This is how to light a lamp

During daily worship in the home temple, you should light a lamp filled with ghee or mustard oil. Doing so fosters positivity in the home. If you light a ghee lamp, place it on the left side of the temple. However, if you light an oil lamp, it is auspicious to put it on the right. If you light a ghee lamp, use a white cotton wick, and if you light an oil lamp, use a red thread wick.

These directions should be kept in mind

Vaastu Shastra specifies the correct direction for lighting a lamp during worship. In Vaastu Shastra, the north or northeast direction is considered the best for lighting a lamp. The lamp’s wick should always face east or north.

Also, you should avoid lighting a lamp in the south direction. This direction is considered the direction of Yamaraj, and lighting a lamp in the west is also regarded as inauspicious. Therefore, lighting a lamp in this direction can have negative consequences.

These things should not be ignored

Do not place the lamp directly in front of an idol or picture of God, nor too far away. If your lamp is made of metal, it should be thoroughly cleaned daily. If you keep these things in mind, you will reap the full benefits of your worship.
