Aprilia SXR GT 175 and SXR GT 125 Bookings: Aprilia has ramped up preparations for its return to the Indian scooter market. The company has unveiled the new Aprilia SXR GT 175 and SXR GT 125 ahead of their official launch in India. Bookings for both scooters have commenced nationwide, with sales expected to begin in October 2026. The new SXR GT range will offer 125cc and 175cc engine options, while the design differs significantly from previous SXR models. Let’s take a look at the details.

Aprilia SXR GT 175 and SXR GT 125 Bookings

Aprilia has opened bookings for both new scooters. The company has reintroduced the ‘SXR’ nameplate to the Indian market. Previously, the company’s lineup included models like the SXR 125 and SXR 160, but it discontinued them some time ago. This time, however, Aprilia hasn’t simply reused the SXR name; instead, the company has developed the entire range around the ‘GT scooter’ concept.

Engine

The new Aprilia SXR GT 175 is powered by a 174.7cc, single-cylinder, four-stroke, air-cooled engine. This engine features an SOHC 3-valve setup and electronic fuel injection. It generates a maximum power of 13.3 hp at 7,200 rpm and a peak torque of 14.14 Nm at 6,000 rpm. It also comes equipped with an electric starter and forced-air cooling.

Meanwhile, the smaller SXR GT 125 is powered by a 124.45 cc, single-cylinder, four-stroke, air-cooled petrol engine. It also features an SOHC 3-valve configuration and electronic fuel injection. This engine generates a maximum power of 10.6 hp at 7,400 rpm and a peak torque of 10.4 Nm at 6,200 rpm. It features an electric starter and forced-air cooling.

Design

The design of the new SXR GT series differs significantly from the older SXR models. Both scooters feature a large front fairing integrated with Aprilia’s signature LED lighting. Additionally, the broad seat and revised graphics lend the scooter a more premium appearance.

The most significant change has been made to the footboard. The new footboard features a more open layout compared to the previous version, offering the rider more space to place their feet. Aprilia has designed the riding position with both city commuting and long-distance riding in mind.

Colours

Aprilia has introduced distinct colour options for both models. The SXR GT 125 will be offered in Matte Black, Glossy Azzurro, and Glossy White shades. Meanwhile, the more premium SXR GT 175 will be available in Metallic Blue, Matte Black, and Matte Green.

This results in a total of six colour options across the two variants. Matte Black is common to both versions, while the other colours help to distinguish the two engine options.

Features

Regarding features, the earlier SXR 125 and SXR 160 models already offered amenities such as digital instrumentation, LED lighting, and USB charging. They also came equipped with 12-inch wheels, a 220mm front disc brake, telescopic front suspension, a single rear shock absorber, and a 7-litre fuel tank.

The new SXR GT 175 is expected to carry forward many of the mechanical and practical elements from the older models. However, Aprilia will fully confirm the final specifications and feature list at the time of the launch. Consequently, details regarding the digital console, charging capabilities, and braking setup will only be considered official following the formal announcement.
