At the start of the year, JioHotstar gave OTT consumers a significant present. The company has introduced monthly subscriptions in all three categories—Mobile, Super, and Premium—and redesigned its subscription structure. Users can select a plan each month based on their needs and will no longer be constrained by long-term obligations. According to JioHotstar, this choice was made in light of evolving viewing preferences and rising content consumption on larger screens. The revised plans will take effect on January 28.
Mobile Plan: The most cheap starting point
For those who would rather view content exclusively on their smartphones, JioHotstar offers a mobile plan. The monthly cost is Rs 79. This plan limits the video quality to 720p HD and only permits streaming on one mobile device at a time. Since this is an ad-supported plan, commercials will appear during the content. Hollywood content is not included in this subscription, but it is available individually via an add-on.
Hollywood Add-on: Requires a separate fee
Users who sign up for mobile services will not always have access to Hollywood content. For this reason, JioHotstar has released a different Hollywood add-on. The monthly cost of this add-on is ₹49. Additionally, users have the option of annual and quarterly subscriptions. According to the corporation, this will prevent needless costs and allow consumers to select information based on their tastes.
Super Plan: Along Mobile and TV Streaming
The Super Plan is intended for consumers who view media on computers, smart TVs, and mobile devices. The monthly cost is ₹149. It provides video quality up to 1080p Full HD and simultaneous streaming on two devices. Although Hollywood content is included in the base subscription, this plan is likewise ad-supported. For middle-class family customers, this package is regarded as a well-rounded choice.
Premium Plan: For 4K Viewers and Families
The most costly but feature-rich choice is JioHotstar’s Premium package. The monthly cost is ₹299. It provides Dolby Vision compatibility, 4K resolution, and simultaneous streaming on four devices. Although ads will still appear during live sporting events and performances, nearly all of the material in this package is ad-free. This subscription also includes Hollywood content at no extra cost. Families and people who watch on big screens are the target audience for this approach.
