New Delhi: A major train accident occurred in Andalusia, Spain, late Sunday evening. Two speeding trains collided head-on, killing 21 people and injuring more than 70. The injured have been admitted to hospitals for treatment. The condition of some of the injured remains critical, and the death toll is expected to rise.
The tragic accident took place near the town of Adamuz in Cordoba. Upon receiving the information, police and emergency teams rushed to the scene and launched a rescue operation to extricate those trapped. All the injured were transported to hospitals by ambulance. Several Spanish leaders have expressed their condolences over the accident.

Details of the Tragic Accident
According to the Spanish police, the accident occurred when a high-speed train travelling from Malaga to Madrid suddenly derailed and collided with an oncoming train on the adjacent track. The collision was so severe that several carriages of both trains were thrown off the tracks.
Panic ensued among the passengers. Police officials believe the death toll is likely to increase. The injured have been admitted to six nearby hospitals. Many are in critical condition.
