EPFO: The Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has simplified the process for members of the transgender community to change their name and gender. The EPFO has clarified that the Transgender Identity Certificate, issued by transgender individuals through the national portal, will be considered a valid document for changing their name and gender in EPF records.
The new circular issued by the EPFO states that identity proof or card issued for transgender persons through the [https://transgender.dosje.gov.in/] portal will be accepted for changing name and gender in EPFO records. The circular further states that this document will be considered part of the list of acceptable documents included in Annexure II of the circular on the Joint Declaration Process issued on January 16, 2025.

Members whose UAN was generated before October 1, 2017, but whose name, date of birth, gender, and Aadhaar are verified.

Members whose UAN is not verified with Aadhaar, who do not have a UAN, or in cases involving deceased members. The level of verification and approval depends on the category the member falls into. Documents can be submitted by the member through DigiLocker, wherever possible, and can also be uploaded as a single PDF.
