Income Tax Department clarifies
The Income Tax Department has clarified that the returns are still being processed in the system. The department also stated that the entire verification process is computer-based, which involves matching tax credits, deductions, and claims. Therefore, in some cases, processing may take time.
The department also informed that under the Income Tax Act, the department has 9 months to process the return after the end of the financial year for which the return was filed. Therefore, taxpayers have been asked to be patient. The department stated that as soon as the processing begins, you will be informed via your registered email address.

Many taxpayers’ refunds are stuck, which has increased their concerns. In this situation, the department has assured that while the computer-based verification takes time, the income tax refund will be credited to their accounts within the stipulated time.
