Monsoon Alert – The weather is rapidly changing across most parts of India. From North India to South India, the weather is becoming a disaster in varying degrees. Winter has put the brakes on life in North India, while in the southern states, rain accompanied by storms and hurricanes is causing great distress. There seems to be no respite from the rains just yet.

The mountains of Himachal Pradesh are covered in a white blanket of snow. Snowfall has also brought a chill to Kashmir and Uttarakhand. Dense fog has enveloped many areas of Uttar Pradesh and Delhi NCR since morning, slowing vehicle speeds. Temperatures have also dropped significantly in Bihar and Jharkhand. The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy rain in several states.

Heavy Rain Alert

The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy rain in several states. According to the IMD, light to heavy rain is expected in the coastal areas of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Kerala. Additionally, cloudy skies are expected in areas adjacent to Chennai.

Showers are also expected in some parts of South Coastal Andhra Pradesh. The intensity of rainfall is expected to decrease slightly after December 13th. Furthermore, a heavy rain alert has been issued for several districts in Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, and Meghalaya. A warning for scattered drizzle has also been issued for Nagaland and Manipur.

North India Shrouded in Fog

Dense fog enveloped the national capital, Delhi, Punjab, and Haryana yesterday, disrupting traffic. Visibility dropped to between 50 and 100 meters in many places, significantly impacting traffic.

Severe fog conditions are expected to persist in the mornings in many states for the next two days. Along with this, light snowfall is expected in the hilly states due to cloud movement and high-altitude areas. The cold has also increased in many areas.

According to the IMD, dense fog is expected in North India. Visibility is expected to be affected in Punjab, Haryana, and Delhi. Night temperatures are expected to drop further in Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. Rain is expected to continue in South India.
