The Threat of Fake Aadhaar Cards and Rising Complaints
Recent years have seen an increase in cases related to fake Aadhaar cards. Many people unknowingly use fake cards, causing problems in the future. Therefore, everyone must verify the authenticity of their Aadhaar card themselves. This process is very simple and takes only two minutes.
Aadhaar Verification on the UIDAI Website
The official website of UIDAI provides various Aadhaar-related services to the public. There’s a feature called Verify Aadhaar Number, which allows anyone to instantly verify their Aadhaar number. To do this, open the website and enter the Aadhaar number and fill in the captcha code that appears. Once the captcha is entered correctly, the system begins matching your Aadhaar number with the UIDAI records.
How does the system determine if your Aadhaar is genuine?
If your Aadhaar number is genuine, your Aadhaar number appears on the screen, along with the message “Exists.” Some basic Aadhaar information is also displayed, which is only for verification purposes. No sensitive or personal information is shared, ensuring your privacy is completely protected. On the other hand, if the number is fake, the system immediately displays “Invalid Aadhaar.”
Also, check by scanning the QR code with the mAadhaar app
UIDAI has also provided the option to scan QR codes in the mAadhaar mobile app. Scanning the QR code on the genuine Aadhaar card displays the cardholder’s correct information in the app. The QR code on fake cards usually doesn’t scan or displays incorrect information. Therefore, QR scanning is a reliable way to ensure the authenticity of your Aadhaar.
