ICC may announce big on November 25
According to a media report regarding the T20 World Cup 2026, the ICC is expected to announce the groupings and schedule at an event in Mumbai on November 25th. India and Pakistan will be placed in the same group, with the USA, Netherlands, and Namibia as the other three teams. Furthermore, Sri Lanka’s group may be a bit tough, with Australia, Zimbabwe, Ireland, and Oman joining them, which is why it’s being called the Group of Death.
The T20 World Cup 2026 will feature four groups of five teams each, with England and the West Indies likely to be placed in the same group, along with three other teams: Bangladesh, Nepal, and Italy. Furthermore, the fourth group could include South Africa, New Zealand, Afghanistan, the UAE, and Canada.
Top-2 teams from each group will be placed in Super-8
In the T20 World Cup 2026, the top two teams from each of the four groups will qualify for the Super 8, after which the top four will secure a place in the semi-finals. The match between India and Pakistan could be played at the Colombo stadium.
Defending champions India could play their first match of the tournament against the USA. In India, the T20 World Cup matches will be played at grounds in Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Delhi and Ahmedabad. In Sri Lanka, apart from Colombo, the T20 World Cup matches will be held in Kandy.
