Aadhaar App: UIDAI is about to roll out a new Aadhaar app. This app will enable offline ID verification. They’ve already given us a sneak peek ahead of the launch. In a recent webinar, UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) CEO Bhuvnesh Kumar mentioned that the app is designed to build a robust ecosystem for offline verification, ensuring that individuals can have a secure and straightforward digital identity. He emphasized that this new system will enhance both security and privacy.
Paperless Aadhaar sharing: Fraud will be reduced
The upcoming Aadhaar app is attracting a lot of attention because it facilitates offline verification. This means you won’t need to show a physical copy of your Aadhaar card to verify your identity at hotels, residential societies, events, or anywhere else. UIDAI points out that sharing photocopies often heightens the risk of Aadhaar misuse or fraud. The new app addresses this concern by allowing users to share all or specific Aadhaar information digitally.
Where will offline verification come in handy?
UIDAI stated that the new system will be incredibly beneficial in daily scenarios.
Hotel Check-in
Residential Society Entry
Event/Function Access
To support this, the app will feature various offline modes, including QR-based verification, suitable for both small businesses and large organizations.
What features will the new app include?
According to UIDAI, the new Aadhaar app will offer greater control, enhanced security, and improved convenience compared to previous versions.
Multi Profile – Users can store up to 5 Aadhaar profiles for their family within a single app.
Biometric Lock/Unlock – Easily lock your biometrics with a single click. Once locked, no one can misuse your fingerprint or iris.
Profile Update – When you change your mobile number or address, the app will automatically display the updated information.
QR Code and Verifiable Credential Sharing – Users can send Aadhaar digital information with just one tap directly from the app.
