New Delhi: Nitish Kumar has been elected as the leader of the NDA legislative party and will be sworn in on Thursday at 11:30 a.m. Nitish Kumar will be sworn in as the Chief Minister of Bihar for the tenth time. Upon reaching Raj Bhavan, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar submitted his resignation from his current term to the Governor. Several ministers will also be sworn in alongside him.
Since the NDA secured a landslide majority, Nitish Kumar’s re-election as Chief Minister was considered a certainty. Although some leaders of the constituent parties were not openly claiming Nitish Kumar’s place as Chief Minister, behind the scenes, everything was already decided. Samrat Chaudhary has been elected as the leader of the BJP legislative party. Vijay Sinha was elected as the deputy leader. Consequently, both Chaudhary and Vijay Sinha are considered certain to become Deputy Chief Ministers.
Nitish Kumar to be sworn in for the tenth time.
After being elected as the leader of the NDA legislative party, Nitish Kumar will be sworn in as the Chief Minister of Bihar for the tenth time on Thursday. He took the oath twice in alliance with the RJD, and the rest with the support of the NDA. The Bihar Assembly elections were fought under Nitish Kumar’s leadership.
PM Narendra Modi himself appealed for votes to make Nitish Kumar the Chief Minister in public rallies. The NDA won its biggest victory in Bihar since 2010. The BJP won 89 seats, the JDU 85, and the LJP 19.
What could Nitish Kumar’s cabinet look like?
Those with political connections in Bihar are wondering who will be included in Nitish Kumar’s cabinet. The names of Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Sinha are almost confirmed. There are reports that the BJP and JDU have reached an agreement on a formula of 16 ministers each.
Overall, one minister could be appointed for every six MLAs. The LJP is expected to receive three ministerial positions. Jitan Ram Manjhi’s HAM and Upendra Kushwaha’s RLM could receive one ministerial position each. All ministers are expected to be sworn in on Thursday.
Preparations for the swearing-in ceremony are in full swing.
Gandhi Maidan in Patna has been prepared for the swearing-in ceremony. Entry for ordinary citizens has been completely barred. Police are already visible at Gandhi Maidan. Activists have prepared a large stage to make the swearing-in ceremony memorable. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah will attend the swearing-in ceremony. Invitations have also been sent to prominent opposition leaders. Prominent NDA leaders from across the country are also expected to attend.
