Railway Update: Indian Railways has announced changes to the operation of several important trains for the month of November. This decision has been taken due to the ongoing large-scale track upgrade, yard remodeling, and signaling improvement work. This mega maintenance project, taking place at Shalimar station and its surrounding areas, is affecting several long-distance express and superfast trains, with some temporarily cancelled and others rerouted.

Vast Railway Passenger Network

The Indian Railways cater to the travel needs of millions of passengers every day. Maintaining the safety and smooth operation of this vast network, connecting remote areas of the country, is a major challenge. Therefore, the Railways periodically undertakes works such as track repairs, route improvements, construction of new lines, and modernization of signal systems. It is natural for train operations to be disrupted for a few days during these works.

Maintenance work causes inconvenience

Even in November, the Railways clarified that passengers may face some inconvenience due to remodeling and upgrading work. Maintenance work, particularly at the Shalimar station yard, will continue until November 21st. Due to this, several trains passing through the Chakradharpur division have been temporarily cancelled. Some passengers will have to travel via alternative routes, as some trains have been diverted.

Checking train status before travel is essential

The Railways has advised passengers to check the real-time status of their trains before arriving at the station to avoid any inconvenience. The dates for cancellations and diversions vary, and many trains will only be affected for a few days.

Which trains have been cancelled and diverted?

Several trains, including the Shalimar-Mumbai LTT Kurla Express, Shalimar-Bhuj Superfast, Gorakhpur-Shalimar Weekly, Mumbai LTT Samrasata Express, and Udaipur City-Shalimar Superfast, have been cancelled on various dates in November. Trains like the Badam Pahar Express, Gyaneshwari Express, and Porbandar-Shalimar Superfast have been diverted to Santragachi station or have been diverted from there.

Operations will return to normal after maintenance

Train operations will return to normal once track repairs and yard remodeling are completed. Until then, passengers should remain vigilant in planning their travels and stay updated on all updates.
