Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has given important information regarding the country’s first Vande Bharat Sleeper train. He announced that the first Vande Bharat Sleeper train will be launched in the second half of January 2026. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off the train. This train will allow for comfortable overnight travel.

The Railway Minister further stated that the first set of the Vande Bharat Sleeper train is completely ready. After successful trials, preparations are underway to launch it for passengers. Which will be the first route?

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw informed that the first Vande Bharat Sleeper train will run between Guwahati and Kolkata. This route will connect the northeastern states. The train will have a total of 16 coaches, including 11 AC three-tier, 4 AC two-tier, and 1 AC first-class coach. The total passenger capacity of the sleeper train will be 823 passengers.

According to the Railway Minister, 8 more Vande Bharat Sleeper trains will be prepared within the next 6 months. It is expected that other routes will also receive the Vande Bharat Sleeper train this year. The official fare for the sleeper train on the Guwahati and Kolkata route has not yet been announced.
