OG Tata Sierra Engine
Launched in the 90s, the OG Sierra was one of the most unique SUVs of the time. The design was buxy but strong, and the driving arm was different. At that time Sierra used to come with just diesel engine.
The same was its first engine 2.0-litre NA diesel, which gave a power of around 63 hp. Tata later launched its 2.0-litre turbo diesel version, delivering power up to 91 hp. Both engines used to come with 4-cylinder layout and only 5-speed manual gearbox with them.
New Tata Sierra 2025
Let me tell you that the new Sierra Tata ICE line-up coming in 2025 is bringing a big change. This time the SUV is not limited to just diesel, now both petrol + diesel options will be found in Sierra. This is considered to be the biggest update of this SUV.
Two petrol engines can be seen in the new Sierra. 1.5-litre NA petrol – for smooth city driving and 1.5-litre turbo-petrol – for buyers who like more power. Both Refinement and fuel efficiency would be much better than OG Sierra, as these engines are of new-generation and will come with modern tuning.
New Sierra Diesel Engines
New Sierra is going to please not only petrol but also diesel fans. It is expected to receive two modern diesel options. It will get 1.5-litre diesel – around 118 hp & 260 Nm and 2.0-litre Kryotec diesel around 170 hp & 350 Nm power.
Both of these engines are likely to be found with both manual and automatic gearboxes. This is a feature that OG Sierra never had. NVH control is better in its Modern diesel engines, emissions are clearer and performance is more linear.

If you look at Core Difference, the OG Sierra was limited to the only diesel engine and had power between 63 hp to 91 hp. At the same time New Sierra petrol + diesel offers both and power can reach around 170 hp.

Tata Sierra Price & Competitors
The expected price of New Tata Sierra is considered to be between ₹15 lakh to ₹22 lakhs (ex-showroom). In this budget, it will be banged by Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara and MG Hector. The Sierra 2025 mid-size SUV with new technology of multiple engine options, modern design and Tata will create a fresh and powerful entry in the segment.
