Monsoon Update – Thunderstorms to Hit 7 States, IMD Issues Warning

IMD Alert: The impact of the harsh winter is increasing due to falling temperatures in North India. Dense fog enveloped many areas in the early morning, causing inconvenience to pedestrians. Temperatures are dropping in Delhi-NCR, where the cold has intensified.

Late-night rains in many areas of South India have significantly reduced temperatures, bringing the weather to a pleasant state. Rainfall may once again disrupt normal life in the northeastern states.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department, a rain alert has been issued in several states of South India. The IMD has issued a warning of heavy rain in most parts of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka. Rain is possible in many areas of Maharashtra, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh. Rainfall is also forecast in many areas of Mizoram, Tripura, and Sikkim. Furthermore, the coldest temperatures are expected to increase significantly in Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, and Nagaland.

Cold Breaks Records in North India

Cold weather has already broken records in North India. Snowfall is sweeping across Himachal Pradesh and the coastal islands of Uttarakhand. Meanwhile, temperatures are dropping well below zero degrees Celsius in Lahaul-Spiti, Manali, Shikhar, and Rudraprayag. Snowfall has also caused shivering in many areas. According to the IMD, cloudy skies are expected in Jammu and Kashmir on November 16th, with a western disturbance becoming active.

Fog Prevails in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar

According to the Meteorological Department, temperatures in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar remain normal. The westerly winds are causing a rapid drop in temperatures. Minimum temperatures are expected to drop by another 3 degrees in the next three to four days in the upcountry areas of eastern Uttar Pradesh, including Nashik, Varanasi, and Samastipur. Furthermore, Bihar is experiencing the effects of dense forests and cold mornings and evenings.
